Jude Bellingham and his mum react after seeing £5.5million house | Football | Sport

Jude Bellingham and his doting mother had mixed reactions when they viewed his opulent £5.5million Madrid home for the first time. The Real Madrid and England star has unveiled the first episode of his YouTube series 'Out of the Floodlights', which offers an insight into his life off the pitch.

The first episode, entitled 'Casa Blanca', follows his final days at Borussia Dortmund, when the team narrowly missed out on Bundesliga qualification on the final day of the season, followed by his move to Madrid. After his launch at the Bernabeu, Bellingham is followed as he begins house hunting, accompanied by his mother Denise, father Mark and brother, footballer Jobe.

As she enters the property where her eldest son will live, Denise notices the scorching summer heat: “It's extremely hot, he's going to sweat.”

Jude, on the other hand, tries out the estate's elevator and is amused by its sluggishness. He jokes, “I thought it was going to go 'Zum'.” His tour also takes him to the estate's back gardens, where he sees a fire pit and envisions social gatherings. He adds, “Set up a table there and play cards.”

He is enthusiastic about the house and muses: “I don't want to go too soon and then see something better, but I also don't want to go away and see that it's 'sold'. It's beautiful, really beautiful.”

In the end, he actually takes it. The luxurious apartment in Madrid's exclusive La Finca neighborhood is said to be equipped with high-end amenities such as a gym, home theater, gourmet kitchen, private swimming pool and stunning views of the Lafinka Golf Club and the surrounding mountains.

His former Real Madrid colleagues Toni Kroos and Cristiano Ronaldo are said to own similar properties in the area. Denise moved to Madrid to support her son and lives in the same sprawling 650 square metre, six-bedroom villa.

In one of the show's light-hearted moments, Jobe jokes that Jude is “useless” in the kitchen and suggests that if he learnt to cook, her mother could stay in England. Meanwhile, Jude's father Mark, 48, remains in the UK to support brother Jobe, whose move to Sunderland last summer also features in the episode.

Reflecting on his meteoric journey from Birmingham City to Madrid, Jude says: “Three years from Birmingham to Madrid is not bad.”

When asked why he gives such an intimate insight into his life, he replies: “If it helps people get to know me better, that's great. If people are still unhappy, then…” [shrugs shoulders].”

Upcoming episodes will cover his remarkable debut season at Real, in which he won both the La Liga title and the Champions League, beating his former club Dortmund in the final at Wembley.

Bellingham missed England's recent Nations League matches against Ireland and Finland due to a calf injury. Following the injury, which he sustained last month, Real announced: “Following the tests carried out on Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid's medical team, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantar fasciitis muscle in his right leg. His progress is being monitored.”
