One person died in a police-involved shooting in Saratoga Springs.

This began around 4 p.m. on Wednesday when police were searching for a man who was threatening to harm himself. That man, James Dellea, 48, of Hillsdale, was found in the parking lot of the race track on State Route 9 in Malta. He then led police on a low-speed chase that ended in Bethel Saratoga on Route 9.

Dellea refused to leave his car, police said. He then showed a gun and was shot by a police officer.

Due to ongoing investigations, roads in the area remain closed.

The Attorney General's Office is involved in the investigations required in New York when there is a fatal shooting involving a police officer.

There is currently no danger to the population, police said.
