New prices for Kia Niro Hybrid 2025 released

A new model year for Kia's three-variant Niro brings slight price increases and some updates to the product range.

The Niro – Kia's comprehensive answer to the hybrid and plug-in Toyota Prius – is back for 2025 with some equipment updates and new pricing. Until mid-September, Kia had only released updated pricing for the hybrid and plug-in versions. But with hybrids attracting more interest than electric vehicles in some cases, consumers' focus seems to be on gasoline-battery combinations.

For the HEV (Hybrid) the equipment variants increase to:

  • Niro HEV SX Touring: $35,390 (plus $1,375 destination charge for the entire range)
  • Niro HEV SX: $32,990
  • Niro HEV EX Touring: $32,090
  • Niro HEV EX: $29,790
  • Niro HEV LX: $26,990

The plug-in (PHEV) is now:

  • Niro PHEV SX Touring: $40,790
  • Niro PHEV EX: $34,490

The biggest update is to the top-trim PHEV SX Touring, which now comes standard with a cold weather package that includes heated rear seats and a heater to improve battery range in all-electric mode. The PHEV has an all-electric range of up to 33 miles. The hybrid version is known for its combined efficiency of 53 mpg. For comparison, the hybrid Prius can get up to 57 mpg.

To take advantage of the plug-in version, drivers must keep the PHEV charged and plugged in. The Niro PHEV's combined fuel economy is 108 MPGe. Unlike hybrids like the Prius and base Niro, the battery must be maintained and utilized to make the car as efficient as possible. There is some evidence that the plug-in feature of PHEVs is often forgotten.

Pricing for the all-electric Niro EV has yet to be announced. The 2024 model (available in two trim levels) started at just under $41,000. Kia said the 253-mile range vehicle will update its 2025 pricing soon.
