Saul “Canelo” Alvarez headlines the T-Mobile Arena for Mexican Independence Day

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — It's officially fight week in Las Vegas, but this week is no ordinary one. The UFC will have its “Noche UFC” card at the Sphere and boxing's biggest star, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, will headline at T-Mobile Arena.

At 34 years old and with 65 professional fights under his belt, Canelo has an impressive track record, but he is now getting older.

But if you ask him, he has never been better.

One-on-one interview with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez

“I feel at my best. I feel at my best,” said Alvarez. “This Canelo beats the Canelo of 24, 25 and 26.”

Canelo will face undefeated Puerto Rican fighter Edgar Berlanga.

The history of the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico duel is one of the greatest rivalries in boxing.

Canelo is no stranger to this rivalry, having defeated Miguel Cotto years ago.

Now he will try to beat the young, hard-hitting Puerto Rican who has won 16 consecutive fights by technical knockout.

Regardless of the outcome, Canelo says this fight will go down in history.

“There have been major fights between Mexicans and Puerto Ricans,” Alvarez said. “This is history, and this will not be an exception.”

The fight between Canelo and Berlanga is scheduled for this Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena, with pay-per-view scheduled for 5:00 p.m. local time.
