Students in Barrow County, Georgia, are returning to school following a tragic shooting at Apalachee High School that left two teachers and two students dead. While the high school remains closed, the district's other schools are reopening with additional safety measures in place.

Superintendent Dallas LeDuff announced that sheriff's deputies and state troopers will be on site to ensure safety and counseling services will be available for all students and staff. Those who do not feel prepared to return are encouraged to contact the principal for support.

Many in the community are still reeling from the incident, and parents and teachers are grappling with the aftermath. Sabrina Masters Reed, a third-grade teacher, stressed the need for a safe space for students and staff during this difficult time.

The victims of the shooting, including teachers Richard Aspinwall and Cristina Irimie and students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, are being mourned by their families. A memorial service was held for Aspinwall while arrangements are being made for Irimie's funeral.
