This stunning 1961 Lincoln Continental had a famous owner

This stunning 1961 Lincoln Continental probably attracts more attention than its famous previous owner.

The beautiful burgundy classic is a true piece of automotive history.

With its sleek lines, shiny chrome and typical “suicide doors”, the car is a real eye-catcher.

We would even go so far as to say that it is even more of a talking point than its famous former owner, actor Daniel Wu.

The Lincoln Continental is in incredible condition

When you think of purely American automobiles, there are few cars with such a clear origin as the Lincoln Continental.

Even US icon Elvis Presley gave the car his blessing in the 1950s and spent $10,000 – an enormous sum at the time – to get one.

Let’s fast forward a few decades and American-born Chinese Star Wu became the proud owner of this stunning 1961 specimen.

Despite its age, the car is in absolutely immaculate condition thanks to a complete restoration in the 1990s and the meticulous care and attention it has received since then.

According to Wu, who decided to part with the car in 2020, the Lincoln is an original West Coast car in its original Black Cherry color with less than 48,000 miles on the clock.

The low mileage and perfect presentation style are partly due to the fact that the Lincoln had only three owners before Wu.

Owner Daniel Wu made some modifications to the car

After taking ownership of the Lincoln, Wu made some modifications, adding AccuAir suspension and custom 20-inch billet wheels.

While some purists may balk at the idea of modifying such a classic, it's fair to say that the changes were tasteful and added to the car's overall appeal.

The new wheels in particular are a small highlight.

With its lowered body, low mileage, and near-mint condition, this Lincoln is a real head-turner and we can well imagine Wu was sad to lose it.

Nevertheless, he sold the car at auction in August 2022.

We hope it has ended up in good hands and continues to cause a stir when it's on the road.
