Elderly woman murdered in Mylapore, accused sent to prison by judge

Mylapore police on Saturday (31 August 2024) arrested a 29-year-old resident of Royapettah for murdering a 75-year-old woman and robbing the gold jewellery from her house.

The woman who was attacked and treated in a private hospital died on Saturday (August 31, 2024).

According to police, Shenbagam lived in Solaiappan Street in Mylapore. On August 22, Shenbagam's sister Ranganayaki, who lived in the next street, found her unconscious and took her to a private hospital in Mylapore.

While Shenbagam was still being treated in the hospital, the Mylapore police filed a complaint. On checking the CCTV footage, they found that a person named A. Azhar Hussain of Jawahar Hussain Khan Street in Royapettah had attacked the senior citizen and stolen more than 44 grams of gold ornaments from the house.

The accused was later brought before a justice of the peace and sent to prison.
