The popular survival game Core Keeper offers a free trial version before Steam 1.0

When Core Keeper was released in Early Access in 2022 and was a huge success. Over 30,000 players jumped on Steam and it received a “very positive” rating of 92%. It's been a long road since then, with countless updates and improvements over the past two years. But now Core Keeper will finally release version 1.0 in the next few days. To celebrate the occasion, there's a tasty discount and a free trial, as well as early access to the anticipated update – but time is running out.

Core Keeper is a survival game that lets you explore a stunning cave filled with creatures, relics, and of course resources to mine, similar to classics like Minecraft and Terraria. Drawn to a mysterious artifact, you find yourself trapped deep underground, and you must dig, build, craft, and even farm to survive and solve the mystery.

Want to know the best news? You can do all of this alone or with up to seven other players. It can be chaotic at times, but it's one of the best co-op games for a reason. Working together like a well-oiled machine makes for a ton of fun on top of an already excellent overall package.

Core Keeper 1.0 will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox on Tuesday, August 27, bringing story closure, new and customizable world creation, more tools and items, and finally rounding out the experience.

To celebrate this occasion, developer Pugstorm is hosting a free trial weekend with a 20% discount. And a chance to create a version 1.0 world before the update. A real treat, right?

Core Keeper is currently available on Steam for 20% off until Thursday 5th September, bringing the price down to just $15.99/£12.79 just before and after 1.0's release. You can buy the game or download the free trial version here.

The Core Keeper free weekend runs from Thursday, August 22nd to Monday, August 26th, so you don't have much time left to either dive into the classic world generation or try out the amazing new 1.0 worlds in advance. But beware: If you start the game during this free trial period, the developer recommends that you choose a 1.0 world, so if you buy the game, you can continue playing with the new content after the full release without having to start over again.

With nearly 20,000 people diving back into the hit sandbox game ahead of its release, you'll likely see a lot more of Core Keeper in the future. If you're looking for a fun multiplayer game that combines the best of Minecraft and Terraria, you should grab it on sale while you can.
