Shooting in Lexington Park under investigation

LEXINGTON PARK, Maryland. – On Thursday, August 22, 2024, at approximately 9:21 p.m., officers with the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to the 46000 block of Columbus Drive in Lexington Park after multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired.

Witnesses reported that several people fled the area immediately after dozens of shots were fired. Investigations on the scene revealed that numerous homes and vehicles were hit, but no injuries were reported. Several shell casings were found.

The Division of Criminal Investigation has taken over the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Warren Forinash at [email protected] or by phone at 301-475-4200, extension 8072.
